Members of the fire company were busy the evening of Thursday May 20, 2021 with training and two calls. Engine 20 with multiple members were at the Upper Paxton Township building doing vehicle rescue training on a donated vehicle when the Fire Police were dispatched to assist PSP with traffic on Route 209. There were several Bison that had escaped from an enclosure and were moving through some fields. Chief 202, Ashton Snyder responded with several members. Chief 202 assumed command and requested additional assistance which brought Utility 20 with three and Chief 20. When Engine 20 was finished at training they responded and stood by. Crews assisted the owners and other volunteers. The owner was able to get all the Bison except for one. Crews searched until dark. While operating on the Bison detail the fire company was dispatched for a medical assist that Chief 203 Sean Grimm and Firefighter/EMT Cody Hepner handled.
Several fire company members returned on Friday morning May 21, 2021 to assist with searching. The owner and members were able to locate the Bison. After several hours crews were successful in capturing and loading the Bison on a trailer and returning her to the rest of the herd.
