At approximately 1325 on June 19, 2019 Box 26-4 was dispatched for a reported structure fire at S & L Spindles. Units were informed the call initially was an alarm, but was reported as smoke from the wood shavings collection system. Upon arrival a fire was discovered involving wood shavings and structural members in a building used to bag wood shavings. Command was established by Chief 26. Truck 20 positioned and extended the aerial and extended an attack line from the platform to the roof. Engine 21 laid a supply line from Weaver Road to the rear and extended attack lines into the structure to attack the fire below. A 3″ supply line was extended from Truck 20 to Engine 21. During the attack a firefighter fell into the shavings bin and was removed quickly and transported for medical care for minor injuries. A Tanker shuttle was established and a dump site was established on Weaver Road with Engine 26 supplying Engine 21. Overall there were units on scene from 7 different fire companies.
