Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:36, the Millersburg Fire Company and Engine 21 from Elizabethville were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire on the 200 Block of Union Street in Millersburg Boro. Chief 201 (Koppenhaver) responded and arrived with smoke showing and attempted to make contact with the residents. Chief Koppenhaver quickly upgraded the box to a full first alarm with reports of possible entrapment. This brought units from Berrysburg, Pillow, Halifax and Fisherville as well as additional units from Elizabethville. Chief Koppenhaver gave the initial assignment of laying out and sending a crew to Division 2 to Engine 20 with manpower requested to go interior upon their arrival. The truck crew went in service to perform search and ventilation upon their arrival. Fortunately, the reports of entrapment turned out to be false and the basement fire was extinguished as well as other areas of the structure after overhaul was performed. Special thanks goes out to the Good Samaritan who purchased pizza for the crews while on scene. We don’t know the name of this person, but we greatly thank them!
